Why Sam Allardyce’s new contract is deserved
Three days ago, the obvious happened and Sam Allardyce penned his long-awaited new contract that will keep him at the club till the end of the 2014-15 season; a deal I feel has been more than deserved for what he has done for our club in these last two seasons.

When Big Sam first turned up at Chadwell Heath the changing room morale was near enough non-existent. Even when we were in the Premier League with Avram Grant, you could tell that a majority of our players were unhappy and wanted to jump ship ASAP. Compare that to our current team. Big Sam has instilled the stability our club was crying out for.
I have noticed an alarming amount of West Ham fans against his contract. I don’t understand what Sam has done wrong to get this kind of feedback. This time two seasons ago we were already relegated and six points behind 19th place.
In just two seasons Big Sam has got us promoted to the Premier League again and a win against Reading will guarantee a top half finish. Compare that to the likes of the other teams that were relegated alongside us: Blackpool and Birmingham. Both teams have finished well outside the play-off positions this season and will spend another season in the Championship. You should also look at Sam’s ex-side Blackburn Rovers.
I am truly grateful we have got Sam Allardyce as our manager. When he was in charge of Bolton Wanderers, they started sneaking up the table and the football was getting better. Ask a Bolton fan if you do not believe me.
Sure we have had some bad games this season (who doesn’t?) but how solid have we been at home? If Big Sam is able to sort out our travelling problems, we will finish in the top 10 comfortably next season.
