We cannot keep relying on Nolan to score our goals
I am starting to get a bit worried about our strikers. We have scored 15 goals so far this season, in which only 1 of them has been scored by a striker (Modibo Maiga). Some of you might be shouting at your monitor "what about Ricardo Vaz Te then?" Well, he was playing on the wing when he scored his goal, so it does not count.

I am extremely happy to have someone like Andy Carroll in the team, but he NEEDS to start scoring. If Kevin Nolan was to get either injured or suspended (touch wood), who would we count on to score our goals? Could you imagine the West Ham faithful’s reaction if Carlton Cole went this many games without scoring a goal? He would have been shot by now.
I believe our next four matches will tell us how the rest of our season will pan out. We travel to Spurs on Sunday, then only three days later we go to the red side of Manchester – both will be intense but exciting matches. Once those two matches are over and done with, we play Chelsea and Liverpool at home. Not the easiest set of four matches we will come across, but if we were to snatch around 6 points from those four fixtures, we would be laughing!
Getting back to captain Kev…I thought he was immense on Monday. I was not Nolan’s biggest fan last season; he went missing for a majority of the match and just seemed to be extremely lazy. He was the complete opposite against Stoke. He did not stop running from the first whistle till the last; he was closing players down and was producing some good passes – something he is not known for. I really do hope he carries this play into our next four matches; if he does, we’ll have every chance of getting a few points from them. We are Big Sam’s claret and blue army!
