Medel injury could be final nail in coffin!
In my last article I discussed how important it was for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to win the games that mattered over February; and that I firmly believed they needed a minimum of 9 points from these games, and to keep all their star players fully fit.

They have played three of the four games I had pinpointed as big ‘six-pointers’; only managing 4 points from a possible 9, with Norwich to come this weekend. City lie second from bottom in the Premier League table and, although no game is easy in this league, they will only get harder after this month.
Former manager Malky Mackay broke the club’s transfer record for the third time this summer when they completed the signing of Sevilla midfielder Gary Medel, and despite the reported £11million price tag the Chilean has proved vital in their bid for top-flight safety.
Following the defeat to Championship side Wigan at the weekend, the man that fans like to call ‘El Pitbull’ posted pictures on his Instagram page of him having a scan; suggesting that he has suffered a tear and could be missing for several weeks.
Despite stating that he hopes to “recover as quickly as possible” it will prove a real blow to Solskjaer – could this prove to be the final nail in their coffin?
The Chilean may be a defensive midfielder but a lot of City’s play goes through him as he tends to dictate the midfield.
Medel has shown he has the ability to make key stops in the centre of the field, as evidenced by his average of 2.4 tackles per game so far this season. He is also capable of reading the game well and averages 2 interceptions per match as well.
Add in his 89% pass success rate (the highest at the football club) and then you start to realize just how vital he is to Cardiff City.
At the time of writing this article no timeframe has been confirmed by either Medel or the club, but the new manager – who has only picked up one win in his six games so far – will have his fingers and toes firmly crossed in the hope that ‘El Pitbull’ won’t be missing for too long!
