Christian Benteke is a wanted man in the Premier League. The Belgian striker’s goals played a big part in keeping Aston Villa afloat last season and he’s attracted interest from the top clubs in England.
The sticking point when it comes to signing Benteke is the reported £32.5 million buy-out clause that forms part of the player’s contract.
While Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are among those reportedly interesting in landing the 24-year-old, the big question is whether they are prepared to stump up that amount of cash plus the salary required to land Benteke.
The striker is currently on international duty with Belgium and his compatriot Nacer Chadli has spoken about how he hopes the forward will be arriving at White Hart Lane in the summer.
Spurs are as big as 16/1 to land his signature although the prospect of Benteke partnering Harry Kane in attack would excite Tottenham fans and Chadli is keen to see it happen.
Chadli said: “I hope it’s going to happen but first they have to attract him and there are a lot of clubs who want him – and Christian has to make his choice.
“Hopefully he’s going to choose for us.”
Chadli and Benteke could both start for Belgium in Cardiff on Friday night, with the Red Devils looking to continue their successful Euro 2016 qualification campaign.
“Wales want to finish also as high as possible and take the first place, we always play to win, and we want to win this game,” Chadli said.
“I think it’s going to be an open game.”
