West Brom 2 Manchester United 2 – Blind rescues a point for Red Devils
Goals from Sessegnon and Berahino see the Baggies go close to victory but United come back twice
October 20th, 2014
A pulsating ninety minutes of football at The Hawthorns saw Manchester United twice come from behind to claim a point from Monday’s game against West Brom.
It was a fair scoreline based on the fact that the Red Devils dominated possession although they were unable to forge many chances against a determined West Brom side who twice took the lead in this game.
The home team were ahead early in the match when an unchecked run from Andre Wisdom saw the full back find Stephane Sessegnon and the Benin midfielder smashed an exquisite shot past David de Gea for the opening goal.
United toiled for most of the first half although they were soon level after the interval after substitute Marouane Fellaini shrugged off the challenge of Joleon Lescott before powering the ball past Boaz Myhill.
It appeared that the Red Devils were in the ascendancy although Albion continued to look dangerous and got their noses back in front when Saido Berahino broke through the middle only to beat De Gea and put the Baggies back in front.
Robin van Persie had a quiet game but hit a post with Adnan Januzaj fluffing the rebound as United ran out of time, although Daley Blind’s composed finish through a forest of bodies ensured that the Red Devils collected a point.
