A fourth Premier League win in five outings and above arch-rivals Liverpool in the table, little wonder that Roberto Martinez is smiling. The Toffees boss claimed last night that his men are “enjoying” games in this season’s Premier League following their 3-1 victory against relegation-bound Aston Villa.

Everton didn’t exactly dominate proceedings, however with goals from Romelu Lukaku, Aaron Lennon and Ramiro Funes Mori, they fully deserved their three points.

Rudy Gestede found the back of the net for Aston Villa but this proved little more than a consolation goal for the Villans and they remain firmly rooted to the foot of the Premier League table.

“It’s one of those displays that from the outside they’re not going to be given the credit it deserves,” Martinez said to Sky Sports News. “Villa are fighting for their lives so we’re delighted to get that win and that performance.

“I feel that the squad is in a good moment – there’s competition for places, we’ve been consistent in the last six games. We’re enjoying our football and have plenty confidence.”

Everton now sit tenth in the league table, level on points with Liverpool who face Manchester City at Anfield this evening.
