Wales 2 Scotland 1 – Gareth Bale rescues Welsh after Scotland take lead
Craig Levein is now under enormous pressure as Scotland manager, although the former Hearts boss will feel a sense of injustice after seeing his team take the lead in Cardiff and have a perfectly good goal disallowed which would surely have sealed all three points against Wales.

James Morrison had put Scotland into the lead before Fletcher looked to have doubled his team’s advantage only for the goal to be chalked off. Wales were then awarded a penalty in the 81st minute when Shaun Maloney brought down Bale and it was the Tottenham man who picked himself up and despatched his team’s equaliser.
With the rain pouring down at the Cardiff City Stadium, Charlie Adam needlessly fouled Bale and could only watch as the midfielder took the ball forward and unleashed a shot which found the top corner of the net to ensure that the Welsh were left celebrating.
Bale will be once again in the spotlight after falling down in the penalty area although the star Welsh player will allege that contact was made by Maloney and that he was within his rights to go down.
Scotland might well have led 2-0 had the Fletcher goal been allowed although the visitors lacked real attacking intent, especially after the impressive Morrison had given them the lead.
