It represents yet another away trip in this competition for the Potters, who reached the final last season only to lose to Manchester City. Tony Pulis’ men were reduced to ten men early in their match at Crawley Town after Rory Delap was controversially sent off.
However, goals from Jon Walters and Peter Crouch ensured the Premier League side beat their League Two opponents.
Meanwhile, Liverpool made short work of Brighton & Hove Albion by scoring six against their Championship opponents ahead of Sunday’s Carling Cup final against Cardiff.
Martin Skrtel got the ball rolling and the Seagulls actually scored three own goals as the Reds ran out 6-1 winners.
However, Tottenham were unable to register a single goal in their clash with Stevenage and the goalless draw means that the two teams will play again at White Hart Lane in ten days’ time.
Everton, Sunderland, Bolton Wanderers and Leicester City are the other confirmed teams in the last eight, although Chelsea will need to travel to Birmingham for a replay after drawing 1-1.
