It is a reasonable draw for the only Premier League team left in Europe, although they do face the daunting prospect of facing Barcelona in the semi-finals should they beat their Portuguese opponents.
Even so, the Chelsea team produced an excellent performance to beat Napoli over two legs and will be confident of making the semi-finals.
Barcelona play AC Milan in the last eight of the competition, while Real Madrid have got what is regarded as the plum tie as they face APOEL Nicosia.
The final pairing will see Marseille play Bayern Munich and the winner of this match will probably face Real Madrid, although APOEL’s progress in the Champions League has been a fairytale story.
