Steven Gerrard claims Everton play like Stoke City
Liverpool let a two-goal lead slip during Sunday’s Merseyside derby and it’s clearly something that rankles with Steven Gerrard who has had plenty to say about Phil Neville’s dive and now the Everton style of play.

The Reds captain feels that the Toffees play a lot of long-ball football despite the stats suggesting that the home side had more possession, with Gerrard going as far as to compare Everton with Stoke City.
“I thought we were fantastic and stood up to a team that are very similar to Stoke,” said the 32-year-old.
“Every single time they get the ball to the goalkeeper it comes in long.
“Everton are effective because they have some big, physical lads in the team.
“We had a young, small team out there who were men and stuck together.
“There was only one team who came to play football and that was us.
“Everton are not better than us.”
It seems that Gerrard has sour grapes after Luis Suarez had a goal chalked off incorrectly for offside at the end of the match, with the striker having scored and assisted the two opening goals of the game.
Everton remain well clear of their Merseyside rivals in the Premier League table after a bright start to their own campaign.
