The managerial merry-go-round is in full flow and a couple of familiar faces could be returning to full-time positions this week.
With Neil Warnock heading to Cardiff City, it appears that Steve Bruce is going to become the next manager of Aston Villa and that Steve McClaren is speaking to Derby with regard to the vacant manager’s position.
Championship clubs are calling upon experienced men to lead them this season, with Bruce’s appointment practically a formality after the former Birmingham boss did a great interview at Villa Park.
Bruce left Hull City in the summer after a disagreement over spending budgets and is clearly keen to return to management, with his track record comparing favourably to any other manager.
Meanwhile, McClaren has already had a stint with Derby and was faring pretty well until the wheels came off two seasons ago and Newcastle United came calling.
McClaren has now endured an ill-fated reign at St James’ Park although it appears that he will take charge of the Rams for the second time and aim to restore their fortunes.
