Sheffield Wednesday 1 Leeds United 1 – Kirkland floored by Leeds idiot
Leeds United produced a spirited second half performance to earn a point at Hillsborough on Friday night, although the game’s main talking point will centre around what happened after Michael Tonge’s equaliser which saw several supporters run on to the pitch and one actually pushed Chris Kirkland to the floor.

The Wednesday goalkeeper needed treatment and was visibly upset after the game, with action likely to be taken against the individual which could involve criminal charges.
The home side will feel that they should have taken all three points from this Yorkshire derby with Dave Jones’ team dominating the early stages of the game and the referee failed to spot a blatant handball from Luciano Becchio in the area.
As the game approached half-time, Wednesday were in front when Jay Bothroyd rose highest from a long throw-in to score his first goal since arriving on loan from QPR.
The game changed complexion in the second half with Leeds clearly reacting to some choice words from manager Neil Warnock at half-time and their reward came when Tonge’s shot got a slight deflection to restore parity.
Then came the ugly incident of the night and the game largely fizzled out, with Wednesday ruing that missed penalty decision by the referee.
