Rangers have had a summer of upheaval which has seen the club liquidated and essentially reformed to start life in the fourth tier, with Ally McCoist remaining in charge although many of his star players have subsequently left the club.

However, Barrie McKay showed his class in the first half when firing the visitors in front and it looked as though Rangers were set for a opening victory.

Even so, this is a Peterhead side that were strong favourites to win division three before Rangers entered the scene and Rory McAllister restored parity in the second-half before Scott McLaughlin fired the hosts ahead.

It was a scoreline richly deserved by the home side who continued to go forward in numbers although the thousands of travelling supporters were eventually rewarded at the death when Kevin Kyle’s header hit the bar and Andy Little was on hand to force the ball over the line.
