It’s questionable that Louis van Gaal has performed any better than David Moyes at Old Trafford and one famous Manchester United man is certainly unconvinced by the Dutchman.

Rory McIlroy is a big fan of the Red Devils and spoke to Sky Sports after the Deutsche Bank Championship where he revealed that Van Gaal has not yet won him over as manager of Manchester United.

“I think the new signings will be good in time, but I’m not convinced LVG is the right man to lead us,” he said.

“I don’t know, it’s a hard one. Everyone is dropping points, and it looks like City might run away with the league.

“At least we’re back in Europe, so that’s a good thing.”

McIlroy isn’t the only United fan wondering if Van Gaal’s appointment is a good thing, with the club once again attracting criticism for missing out on several transfer targets and failing to recruit a striker.

United face Liverpool on Saturday after accruing seven points from four games in the Premier League to date, with Wayne Rooney yet to open his account after games against Swansea, Newcastle, Aston Villa and Tottenham.
