Ronald Koeman hails Southampton after beating Manchester United
Koeman sees his Saints team claim a 1-0 victory at Old Trafford

If you didn’t believe that Southampton were top four contenders before Sunday’s clash at Old Trafford, it is now clear that the Saints will be going toe to toe with Manchester United and Arsenal for a Champions League spot this term.
A late goal from Dusan Tadic ensured that Ronald Koeman’s side left with all three points after Graziano Pelle’s shot had rebounded off the post.
Some stout defending kept United at bay as Juan Mata missed the home team’s best chances although Koeman felt as though his team were worthy winners.
“We defended well and the spirit was unbelievable from the players. We were a little bit lucky, but remember in our last game [against Manchester United] that United were the lucky ones.
“If you win then you deserve to win. It is a compliment to our players on how they played with very good organisation today.
“We know that we have a strong team and we know that it was important at the end of December that we got a point against Chelsea and the three points against Arsenal.
“It shows good belief from the players and that’s always what you need if you are not a big club and you have to play against a big one.
“The players are not afraid of the name or the stadium and we’ve learned that in the last few weeks so I’m not surprised we won today.”
