It has been a poor start for the former Liverpool manager who has seen the Blues draw successive home matches with Manchester City and Fulham before losing 3-1 at Upton Park which leaves the west London club way off the Premier League title pace.
Benitez admitted after the match that results need to improve or the club’s owner might be looking around for options, with Chelsea likely to go out of the Champions League in the next few days.
Asked if he could be certain he would be given the chance to turn things around, Benítez said: “No, I am not 100% certain. But we didn’t win and if we had won the game we would be happy now. We have to win games to change things.
“My concern is improving the team and if we do that and start winning games, we’ll be able to turn things around. The main thing for me is to improve the team. I’m not thinking about anything else. And if we improve on the pitch, the fans will be happy.”
