The handshake is supposed to represent fair play, integrity and respect, becoming an initiative that was supposed to see the game played in the spirit befitting of the national game. So when a handshake was refused, live on national television, it sent out a thoroughly disgusting message to the world.

How can the ‘Respect’ campaign possible succeed with events like this? Just what was this Aston Villa mascot thinking?

What? You mean that there was another handshakegate over the weekend?
