Tottenham Hotspur produced their best performance of the season on Sunday afternoon when triumphing 3-1 against Reading which helps them up to tenth place in the Premier League table.

The visitors were superior to the Royals for most of the encounter at the Madejski Stadium, with Jermain Defoe’s two goals sandwiching a strike from Gareth Bale as the pressure eased on Andre Villas-Boas following a slow start to the season.
Defoe was selected in attack ahead of Emmanuel Adebayor and fired the opener from an Aaron Lennon cross, with the England man then controlling the ball beautifully only to shoot wide.
Spurs fashioned several chances with the scoreline at 1-0 although they made certain of the points when Bale fired home and Defoe wrapped things up before Robson-Kanu managed a late consolation for Reading.
Brian McDermott was clearly unimpressed by his team’s first-half performance and Reading have just one point from their opening three matches, with Pavel Pogrebnyak barely getting a sniff in attack.
Tottenham have the likes of Clint Dempsey and Adebayor to compete for places in this team, while goalkeeper Hugo Lloris also has to bide his time following a transfer deadline day move from Lyon.
