Premier League weekend scores and review: Man United eight clear
Manchester United extended their Premier League winning run to seven games after a 2-0 win over QPR on Sunday, although there was an element of fortune about their victory.

Ashley Young ran from an offside position before being fouled in the penalty area by Shaun Derry, something which saw the Rangers midfielder sent off in the 14th minute and Wayne Rooney duly converted from the penalty spot.
Paul Scholes wrapped up victory in the second half and United were celebrating even more later in the day when Manchester City were beaten by a late Mikel Arteta goal at the Emirates Stadium.
It means that Roberto Mancini’s team trail United by eight points and their cause wasn’t helped by the ill discipline of Mario Balotelli who could have been sent off before being awarded a second yellow card soon after the goal.
Meanwhile on Saturday, Chelsea needed a late Juan Mata goal to beat Wigan 2-1, with Tottenham playing out a goalless draw at the Stadium of Light which means they are three points ahead of the Blues in their battle for a Champions League place.
Liverpool’s poor form continued when they were held to a 1-1 draw against Aston Villa, while Norwich City and Everton played out a 2-2 draw which saw Nikica Jelavic score two goals for the visitors.
