Manchester City would love to secure the signature of a player that has scored plenty of times against them in an Arsenal shirt, although it is United that have lodged a bid for the 28-year-old this week, with Sir Alex Ferguson admitting he is a long-time admirer of the forward.
Ferguson told MUTV: “Obviously Arsenal have given out the fact that we’ve made a bid for him.
“We try to keep business as close as possible to us until the moment we conclude a deal. There’s no point talking about something that might not happen.
“There are other clubs interested in the player. We’ve shown an interest and that’s where we’re at at the moment.”
City and Juventus are also clearly wanting to add the player to their respective squads, with Van Persie enjoying an amazing domestic season last term which saw him finish top Premier League scorer.
However, we might not see a deal concluded for the player until the end of August when the transfer deadline window closes.
