Manchester City 1-0 Manchester United – City in the driving seat
Manchester City reclaimed top spot in the Premier League on Monday night by beating arch-rivals Manchester United in a tight game which was controlled for large parts by the home side.

The Citizens served the match up to the Red Devils practically from the kick-off and were rewarded with a 1-0 victory thanks to inspirational captain Vincent Kompany who headed home from a corner on the stroke of half-time.
Kompany marshalled a City defence that were stout enough to prevent Manchester United from having a shot on target, with Joleon Lescott, Gael Clichy and Pablo Zabaleta all playing their part in snuffing out Wayne Rooney and Co.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s team selection will come under scrutiny considering that Antonio Valencia dropped to the bench and Ji Sung Park played for United, with the Ecuadorian and Ashley Young making late substitute appearances.
However, perhaps Manchester City might have proved too strong anyway, with Yaya Toure and Gareth Barry controlling matters in midfield, while Sergio Aguero always looked dangerous in attack.
