Manchester City 1-0 Arsenal – David Silva keeps City top of Premier League
Manchester City and Arsenal were involved in a fantastic game of football on Sunday afternoon, with David Silva’s goal separating the two Premier League title rivals.

There was little between the two teams throughout a pulsating contest which was decided in the 53rd minute when Mario Balotelli raced down the left wing, turned inside Alex Song and shot towards goal where Wojciech Szczesny could only parry the ball.
Samir Nasri couldn’t quite slam the ball home, although David Silva was on hand to deliver the goods, something which means Manchester City are top of the Premier League after Manchester United fleetingly took first place earlier in the afternoon.
It was a wide open game of football, especially in the second half once City had taken the lead. Arsenal certainly played their part in this contest, with Robin Van Persie having a goal chalked off for offside, while Micah Richards appeared to handle the ball in the area but referee Phil Dowd waved away penalty claims.
As the game became stretched, both teams attacked with endeavour and Samir Nasri was guilty of over-hitting a simple pass which would have seen Balotelli double his team’s advantage.
Pablo Zabaleta also came close to scoring when he intercepted Arsenal possession and fired a shot off the post, with the Gunners continuing to live dangerously as they went in search of an equaliser.
Unfortunately for Arsenal, this result means that they are now 13 points behind Manchester City and that is surely too big a gap for the north London side to close.
