Football Scores Christmas XI
Tis the season and all that and, with not much better to do in the week that every office in the country is already in “Christmas mode”, we’ve been answering the question that is plaguing the minds of the entire nation: “If you had to have a team made up of players with Christmas related names, who would be in it?” Well, wonder no more, even if our team is a little striker heavy….
December 19th, 2011
1. Pepe Reinadeer
A dependable keeper and a surname that is ripe for a festive pun, the Liverpool stopper gets a spot between the sticks in our Christmas XI.
2. Danny Elves
Whilst Santa needs his reindeer, he also needs his elves. Thankfully, the Barcelona right back/ winger / guy who plays anywhere on the right is perfect for the job.
3. Evander Snow
We’re dreaming of a white Christmas here at Football Scores towers, and so is the Dutch midfielder Evander Sno. Currently at RKC Waalwijk, the former Holland U21 international would have been used to snow during his time in Glasgow with Celtic.
4. Darel Brussell Sprout
Let’s be honest, you can’t have a Christmas dinner without the dreaded sprouts, can you? Here’s to the Preston midfielder, currently on loan at Charlton.
5. Ryan Bauble
Maybe we need to think about using the Christmas tree formation with the Liverpool man amongst the ranks?
6. Demba Ba Humbug
Some people don’t quite like Christmas as much as the rest of us and, in this team, Newcastle’s Demba Ba is the Scrooge.
7. Gifton Noel Williams
This guy was made for this team – it’s two Christmassy names in one!
8. Roque Santa Cruz
The big man with the red suit and bushy beard had to make an appearance somewhere. Roque Santa Cruz might be a bench warmer at Man City, but he’s a lynchpin in our side.
9. Edin Dzekorations
Another Man City man makes our team, representing all of the festive trimmings. We think that he’ll work well with Ryan Bauble.
10. Andy Carroll
Will be riding in a one horse open sleigh or will it be a silent night? We’ll soon find out with Andy Carroll in our side.
11. Robin van Persie
And leading the line, everybody’s festive bird (and no, we don’t mean the turkey!)
