There’s no-one left in the country who doesn’t know that Premier League footballers earn what we mere mortals call “silly money”, but some stats we’ve come across, put together by a property website, really make it clear just how silly their wages are.

Yes, take a look at our headline again – each Premier League goal is worth £1.28m when you look at the wages spent on the people able to score goals, plus goalkeepers and David N’Gog of course.

So how do footballers splash their cash, apart from paying for super-injunctions, hair replacements and really, really fast cars? Sensible boys with sensible financial advisers have told them to invest in bricks and mortar, so you find that footballers tend to own a fair bit of property.

For example, Wayne Rooney owns four family properties and these are valued at £11.3 million in total.

Carlos Tevez’ salary is big enough to buy 108 houses in Buenos Aires, which equates to approximately 3.5 blingy houses in WAG-tastic Alderley Edge.

There are a few more cheeky stats about footballers having affairs and other footie-related nuggets. If you’re interested, search online for “FindaProperty ‘The Home Game’ infographic”.
