And the most exciting match is…. Newcastle vs Everton

After a few weeks of blockbuster clashes, it’s all looking a little mundane in the Premier League this week. Not never mind, there’s still money to be made, probably.

On bonfire night, there isn’t really any game that gets our fires burning and gets us feeling all warm inside and we’ve resorted to picking out Newcastle vs Everton as our game to watch.

It’s the Saturday lunchtime game and unbeaten Newcastle host an Everton side that has lost five of the last six, so quite why Newcastle are as good as 11/8 with William Hill is beyond us. That’s our first, rather easy tip of the weekend.

Another clash that does intrigue us is Norwich’s trip to Aston Villa. The Canaries have looked relatively sharp in recent weeks, with just one defeat in six. Villa on the other hand, have been a touch wayward. They’re without a win in three and have been generally uninspiring for most of the season.

That leads us to think that Norwich on the draw no bet at 12/5 is definitely worth a look.

And purely because we want to use lots of firework puns, we’re going to back Mario Balotelli to spark into life and score the first goal in Man City’s bonfire night clash at QPR. That particular piece of silliness is available at 9/2 with Bet365.

Further down the leagues and another piece of value on the draw no bet in League One.

Stevenage are a side who have earned a reputation for punching above their weight and they can be had at evens against an inconsistent Sheffield United. Graham Westley’s side have won their last two, both tricky away ties, and recently inflicted a first defeat on previously unbeaten Charlton.  The evens price with the security of the draw no bet is worth it for us.

And finally, in League Two, we like the look of the 5/4 available on sixth placed Shrewsbury as they travel to 22nd place Dagenham and Redbridge. The Daggers have claimed just three points from last 33 available whilst the Shrews have just one defeat to their name from their last five (that being a defeat at Crawley).

Our Picks

Newcastle United v Everton: Newcastle – 11/8 (William Hill)

Aston Villa v Norwich City: Norwich (draw no bet) – 12/5 (Bet365)

QPR v Manchester City: Mario Balotelli to score first – 9/2 (Bet365)

Stevenage Borough v Sheffield United: Stevenage (draw no bet) – evs (William Hill)

Dagenham & Redbridge v Shrewsbury: Shrewsbury – 5/4 (Totesport, Boylesports, Betfred)
