Poland v Northern Ireland tips: Lewandowski Poles apart
Northern Ireland could suffer at the hands of Poland and Robert Lewandowski
June 10th, 2016
Northern Ireland supporters will make themselves heard at Euro 2016 although it remains open to question whether Michael O’Neill’s side will make their presence felt.
It looks a tricky group for a side who are short of quality players, with Steven Davis probably the pick of the bunch in midfield, while the experienced Jonny Evans and Gareth McAuley can operate well in defence.
However, Poland are dripping with talent by comparison and should come through this game with few problems.
Robert Lewandowski is one of the few world-class centre forwards in this tournament and it’s difficult to see the Bayern Munich forward staying off the scoresheet for ninety minutes.
Northern Ireland will hope to grind out a positive result before further clashes against Ukraine and Germany, although they are unlikely to get much change out of a Polish side sensing this is their time.
