Pep Guardiola confident Manchester City can close gap on Chelsea
Manchester City second in the Premier League table after beating Bournemouth

It’s not over until the fat lady sings, with Manchester City having been pre-season favourites to win the Premier League title and now finding themselves clinging to the coat-tails of Chelsea at the top.
The gap is eight points and there’s still plenty of football left to be played, with Pep Guardiola happy with the way his team are operating and confident that City can get closer to the league leaders.
He said: “They have to lose three games, and we have to win all our games. You know how difficult that is in the Premier League. So we have to go game by game, narrow the gap.
“We’re so happy. We are second now; the gap between second and sixth is nothing, but we’re so happy to be second and in this position, and to make the difference a little narrower from Chelsea.”
Chelsea defender Gary Cahill admitted that Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Turf Moor represented a wake-up call, with Pedro’s opener cancelled out by a fantastic free-kick from Robbie Brady.
Burnley could well have won this encounter although the Clarets have been no mugs at home this season, having previously claimed the scalps of Everton and Liverpool among other teams.
Manchester City now head to Huddersfield Town in the FA Cup before recommencing their Premier League campaign and hoping to continue that winning feeling.
