While David Moyes will hold showdown talks with the forward, it appears as though Paris Saint-Germain are trying to lure Rooney to France, with reports emerging that the French champions are prepared to match the player’s wages currently being enjoyed at Old Trafford.
The Qatar Investment Authority are the wealthy backers at PSG and would be prepared to pay around £300,000 a week for Rooney’s services, with Chelsea also thought to be interested in a player who struggled for form last season.
According to The Guardian, Rooney isn’t sure about a move abroad, especially with a young family and might need convincing that Ligue 1 rivals the English Premier League in terms of quality.
This comes after the player met with departing manager Sir Alex Ferguson earlier this month and spoke of his frustration that he had slipped down the pecking order following the bright form of Robin van Persie.
Rooney was employed in midfield towards the end of the season and substituted on a handful of occasions which caused a great deal of frustration. With the 2014 World Cup looming, the forward wants to be playing regular football between now and next summer.
