Nigel Pearson favourite to be next Middlesbrough manager
Pearson could return to the Riverside after Aitor Karanka is sacked
March 16th, 2017
Better late than never for Middlesbrough who have decided to act on the request of several supporters and dispense with the services of Aitor Karanka.
It must have been a decision that was taken with a heavy heart by owner and chairman Steve Gibson, although Boro’s recent form has been poor and it currently appears as though they are returning to the Championship.
Nigel Pearson is the 2/1 favourite to step into the breach, with the former Leicester City manager having previously played for Middlesbrough and Gibson must be considering him among other candidates.
Pearson has recently had a stint in charge with Derby County which quickly ended in tears, although he could be interested in trying to keep alive the Premier League fortunes of the Teeside club.
Steve Agnew is in temporary charge and a 5/1 quote perhaps reflects the fact that the caretaker boss is in with a decent chance of getting the gig.
