Mario Balotelli faces early Liverpool FC exit after shirt swap
Brendan Rodgers furious with Balotelli, with the Italian hooked at half-time against Real Madrid

Mario Balotelli appeared to be a panic signing for Liverpool FC and the Italian looks set to have a short stay at Anfield after yet another dismal performance.
The forward looked uninterested and immobile during the first half of his team’s 3-0 panning at the hands of Real Madrid. To compound matters, Balotelli then swapped shirts with defender Pepe before disappearing down the tunnel.
Adam Lallana replaced Balotelli at the interval and it appears that the Italian’s days at the Merseyside club could be numbered, with Brendan Rodgers admitting he would speak with the player following that shirt swap.
“We will deal with it,” Rodgers said. “We had an incident with a player last year and we did it internally. It is not something I stand for. If you want to do that, you do it at the end of the game. It is something I will deal with tomorrow.
“It was purely tactical,” he said about the substitution. “Adam Lallana came on and he was tireless. That’s the minimum requirement here. You need to press and you need to work. I felt we needed a bit more movement centrally to occupy the centre halves.”
Nevertheless, many have questioned Liverpool’s signing of Balotelli, with Jamie Carragher saying on Sky that the acquisition smacked of a panic buy.
“I’d be surprised to see him here next season. It was just a panic; they needed someone. They left it too late. A lot of the players have come in and done a decent job here and there, but nobody’s really done anything. They bring in Balotelli late on – it’s obviously a panic.”
