Manchester United will win trophies with me, claims Louis van Gaal
Van Gaal bullish about what can be achieved with Manchester United despite Champions League exit

Louis van Gaal’s time at Manchester United has taken a turn for the worse this season, with the Dutchman having invented a pretty boring brand of football for the Red Devils.
He’s also seen United bow out of the Champions League at the group stage, with supporters continuing to voice their disquiet with the imbalance within the squad.
However, Van Gaal remains bullish that he can carry United into a successful period, with the Dutchman hoping his team can continue their title challenge by winning at Bournemouth on Saturday.
When asked if he doubted his ability to win trophies with United, Van Gaal said: “No. I don’t have any doubts.”
He said: “You can lose and you can win in sport, and you have to accept that, as a player and as a manager, but you have to work very hard and I am working very hard and my players are working very hard and doing everything we can do.
“The problem is that we have to meet the expectations and the expectations at a club like Manchester United are very high, and that’s our problem.”
Van Gaal must have surely known that expectation levels would be high when taking the job at Old Trafford, with supporters largely disgruntled after David Moyes took charge and presided over an indifferent season.
LVG was able to steer United to a fourth-placed finish last season although the Red Devils aren’t certain to land a spot in the Champions League spots this season, with Liverpool, Tottenham and Leicester among the teams involved.
