Manchester United manager calls for improvement after 4-0 win against QPR
Louis van Gaal delighted with the result but not the performance after Angel Di Maria shines for the Red Devils

Manchester United cruised to a comfortable win on Sunday as they opened their account against QPR, with Angel Di Maria and Juan Mata controlling the match against the London side.
The result was barely in doubt from the moment that Di Maria’s free-kick into the penalty area evaded everyone including goalkeeper Robert Green, with Ander Herrera and Wayne Rooney making it 3-0 before the break.
Mata scored a fourth after half-time in a match which saw Marcos Rojo and Daley Blind enjoy their full debuts since arriving at Old Trafford, while Radamel Falcao made a late substitute appearance with the points in the bag.
Louis van Gaal was satisfied with what he had seen although claimed there was much more to come from this new-look United team, with the Dutchman confident that the side would now continue to improve.
He told Sky Sports: “We always have to analyse what we have done. Of course the result is fantastic but we can do much better, I believe.
“It’s a very good start. I said before the game, ‘Let’s make a new start again’.
“Since 1st September, we only had three days together before the game with the internationals coming back and with the jetlag, like Falcao.
“I think the result is fantastic, but we can get better. We have made a very good new start.
He added: “When you have a result that is 4-0, you can be happy.
“As a coach you always have points that you can improve. I said that at half-time and also after the match.
“But I am very happy with the result because of the way we have played. We were very dominant and we scored goals. A clean sheet is also very important.”
