Manchester United in hot pursuit of £40m Arturo Vidal
Louis van Gaal wants to sign Chilean playmaker Vidal who impressed at the 2014 World Cup

Manchester United have already landed the signatures of Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw this summer, although it appears that the chief transfer target at Old Trafford is Arturo Vidal.
Vidal is currently on the books at Juventus, having won the Serie A title with the Turin side last season, although the 27-year-old is apparently open to the prospect of switching to England and United could be prepared to pay him big bucks despite the lack of Champions League football next term.
The Guardian are among those news sources reporting that Louis van Gaal is keen to land the signature of a player who was voted Juventus Player of the Year two seasons ago, having arrived in Italy in 2011 after a successful stint with Bayer Leverkusen.
It appears as though Vidal could be signed for a fee in the region of £40 million, with the Chilean having shone for Chile at the World Cup including a 2-0 win against Spain which saw the world champions dumped out at the group stage.
It appears that Van Gaal wants another central midfielder to join £28.5m signing Ander Herrera, with the latter having recently arrived from Athletic Bilbao.
Nani could head to Juve as a makeweight in the deal, with Kevin Strootman also apparently high on the list of United transfer targets, although the Roma midfielder won’t be available after a serious knee injury until late autumn.
