Manchester City manager claims Napoli are “one of the best in Europe”

Manchester City are virtually qualified for the last sixteen stage of the Champions League after beating all three Group F opponents, with Napoli the latest side to be beaten by Pep Guardiola’s side.
Goals from Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus put City into a 2-0 lead against the Naples team before a Diawara penalty led to a grandstand finish although the Manchester clubs were able to close the game out.
City will head to Italy in a fortnight and Guardiola claims that this team are among the best in Europe, with the Spaniard stating that it was borderline “impossible” to beat Napoli.
Guardiola said: “They are one of the best teams I have ever faced as a professional, as a player, as a trainer. That is why I am so proud with what we have done.
“You cannot beat Napoli – it is impossible to beat them, if you do make a good performance and we did it. That is why I am so happy. I am pretty sure they are one of the best teams in Europe in this moment.
“I didn’t expect to control for 90 minutes because Napoli are an exceptional team. We made a good first half, for 30-35 minutes. We scored the two goals, we started really good, we could have made a third or a fourth.
“After that when we were a bit tired we were not able to finish our counter-attacks. We arrived late for our pressing and they have a big ability to make short passes inside and outside.”
