Manchester City close to signing Wilfried Bony for £25 million
Bony will leave Swansea City and sign for City while on African Nations Cup duty
January 7th, 2015
Wilfried Bony was the top Premier League scorer during 2014 and it appears that the Ivorian has played his final game for Swansea City after Manchester City declared an interest in the striker.
Bony has been excellent for the Swans this season and the English champions are prepared to spend £25 million on the powerhouse who can bolster City’s attacking line as they battle it out for the Premier League title.
City have recently been short of strikers, with Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic all sidelined and leading to James Milner and David Silva operating in advanced positions.
Bony will provide much-needed cover in attack and will help Manuel Pellegrini compete on several fronts including FA Cup and Champions League.
It appears that Manchester City and Swansea are in advanced talks over Bony and that the Ivorian will become a City player while on African Nations Cup duty with the Ivory Coast.
Bony is an international team-mate of Yaya Toure and Pellegrini will be hoping the pair can return and propel City to another Premier League title, with the champions recently drawing level with Chelsea at the top of the table.
