The Premier League title race is hotting up and it is surprise package Leicester City whop are now favourites to lift the crown for the very first time, the Foxes the only side in the top four to grab anything from their midweek outings.
Spurs would have stormed into pole position with a win at Upton Park last night, however it wasn’t to be and Mauricio Pochettino admitted that his side had a bad day as they went down 1-0 to their London rivals, Michail Antonio making sure of the points for the Hammers with a header in the seventh minute.
Spurs remain second in the Premier League table with three points separating them from Leicester, however they face Arsenal on Saturday lunchtime and Pochettino is confident that his men can return to winning ways against their arch-rivals at White Hart Lane.
“The first half was difficult to adapt to under difficult circumstances – the pitch was the first and the second was how (West Ham) play,” Pochettino said to Sky Sports. “They’re a strong team and it was difficult to play the way we play.
“It wasn’t a good day for us, but we had control of the game in the second half. In this period for the team like us or Arsenal or Manchester City – we play a lot of games and we come from a period where we play every three days.
“It’s always tough but we need to feel good and confident in our squad and make sure that we are ready to compete on Saturday.”
Arsenal sit three points behind Tottenham Hotspur and will be desperate to halt their losing streak which now stands at three games.
