Liverpool on the verge of double swoop for Mignolet and Mkhitaryan
Brendan Rodgers was handcuffed when it came to making new signings last summer, although Liverpool’s owners are more willing to splash the cash this time around.

Perhaps the fact that the Reds are likely to receive upwards of £50million for Luis Suarez means that the Merseyside club can strengthen the squad in several areas, with the arrival of Simon Mignolet and Henrikh Mkhitaryan apparently imminent.
Mignolet is on the books at Sunderland, with the goalkeeper set to add competition for places, with the future of Pepe Reina unclear at the moment. The Spaniard has been linked with a move to Barcelona this summer.
Liverpool have had an offer of £6.5m rejected for Mignolet, although a slight increase in this fee should secure the signature of the Belgian international, with Sunderland thought to want in the region of £10m.
Meanwhile, Henrikh Mkhitaryan is another Liverpool target and the Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder will command a £22million fee, with the Armenian having been highly impressive for the Ukrainian club last season. He has scored a total of 38 goals in 72 appearances for Shakhtar.
The 24-year-old would join Iago Aspas at Anfield, with Rodgers having virtually snapped up the Celta Vigo strike for £7.6million, while Kolo Toure has already switched from Manchester City on a free transfer.
