Mario Balotelli had an eventful time of things at Manchester City and it appears likely that the Italian is going to return to the Premier League and wear the red of Liverpool.
Brendan Rodgers has been struggling to sign a replacement for Luis Suarez after the Uruguayan left Anfield for Barcelona in the summer and it appears the Liverpool manager is keen on bringing in Balotelli on a short-term contract.
Rodgers had previously given the indication that he wasn’t interested in signing the controversial forward who produced moments of brilliant and madness when representing Manchester City.
However, the Liverpool boss is now open to the possibility of signing a player who has an unpredictable quality that could help the Reds prosper in the Champions League as well as domestically.
Rodgers had previously said this during the club’s tour of America this month: “I was asked the question about Balotelli last week and spoke about what a talent he is and excellent player he is,” Rodgers said. “But I can categorically tell you that he will not be coming to Liverpool.”
However, it now appears that Liverpool are discussing potential terms with Milan, with the 24-year-old likely to arrive on a season-long loan deal which would take the goalscoring responsibilities off the shoulders of Daniel Sturridge.
Rodgers had also previously said: “In my last press conference, I was asked a question about Mario Balotelli and I talked about what a talent he was and what an excellent player he was. And the next day it was written as if we were signing him. I just gave my perception of him as a player. It shouldn’t be transmitted into us signing the player.”
