Old Trafford favourite Juan Mata has described Manchester United’s 3-2 victory over Arsenal on Sunday afternoon as “remarkable”.
Arsenal’s charge towards the Premier League title was halted by a determined Red Devils side, the star of the show being Marcus Rashford, the 18-year-old finding the back of the net twice.
The pressure was certainly on Louis van Gaal at the start of the week, however his men responded to the upcoming challenges in style, beating Shrewsbury Town 3-0 in the FA Cup and sweeping past FC Midtjylland in the Europa League and most recently Arsenal in what was always going to be a very tough Premier League assignment.
In Juan Mata’s weekly blog, the midfielder wrote: “Perhaps the most remarkable moment of the week has been our win against Arsenal in the Theatre of Dreams on Sunday. The first thing I want to say is that the atmosphere in the stadium was really amazing.
“I think our supporters were in tune with us on the importance of the game. Together we are stronger, and your support gave us the strength we needed in the last few minutes to keep the three points at home.
“It was an intense, thrilling match with many goals. In short, it was a great game for those who love this sport. Everybody wants to participate in a match like this, full of tension and against a big rival. And it’s because of this kind of games that I love football so much.”
The Red Devils have now climbed to fifth in the Premier League table with just three points separating them from Manchester City, the latter enjoying a game-in-hand thanks to their appearance in Sunday’s Capital One Cup final.
