Mourinho has a Monday meeting at the Bernabeu with club officials and the timing of the Real manager’s departure is set to be discussed, despite the fact that he signed a new contract last year after winning the La Liga title.
Mourinho’s latest controversial act at the Spanish club was to be sent off during Friday’s shock defeat against Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey final, something that means Real finish the season potless.
Carlo Ancelotti has announced he wants to leave Paris Saint-Germain after being courted by the Madrid club and it appears that Mourinho is all set for a Chelsea return, where he will replace the departing Rafael Benitez.
Asked if he had any advice for his successor, Benitez said: “Maybe the next manager will have some experience here too, so I do not need to give him any advice.”
Real Madrid have two games remaining this season, with the Real board officials needing to decide whether Mourinho presides over his team for these matches or is instead allowed to leave, paving the way for a Chelsea return.
