Navas is a talented Spanish international who will bolster the City squad ahead of next season’s Premier League title tilt, with David Silva thought to have played a big part in ensuring his compatriot arrived at the Etihad Stadium.
The £17m deal also includes a further £4.6m based on performances and Sevilla have confirmed that City’s offer has been accepted and that a medical is on the cards. It appears that the winger could pocket £4m per year from the deal.
Sevilla’s manager, Unai Emery, said: “All the signs are that Navas will leave. It is the best thing for him and for the club.”
Navas said: “I am open to anything and I want to win titles. City is a team I like a lot.”
Pellegrini has a verbal agreement to join City, having been in charge of Malaga last season and he took the Spanish club to the Champions League quarter finals before they lost to Borussia Dortmund.
Navas has 23 caps from playing for Spain, with the player potentially moving from the wing to a more central midfield position under Pellegrini.
