Kane suffers ankle injury against Bournemouth and likely to be missing for several months

England manager Gareth Southgate will be sweating on the fitness of his star striker right now, with Harry Kane having sustained an injury during Tottenham’s 4-1 win at Bournemouth on Sunday.

Kane left the Vitality Stadium wearing a protective boot and his Spurs team will have to adjust to life without their forward, with Dele Alli and Heung-Min Son stepping up to help the London side beat the Cherries.

The player and Mauricio Pochettino will find out more over the coming days, with the manager hoping for a positive outcome.

“He [Kane] suffered an injury that is to the same ankle he suffered before,” Pochettino said. “We hope it is not a massive issue. We need to wait until [the scan]. Harry has a great character and is positive. We are, of course, disappointed with his problem but, if you are positive, you start the recovery now.”

Kane is certain to miss England’s forthcoming friendlies against the Netherlands and Italy, although it is hoped that he recovers quickly to play a part towards the end of the domestic season and subsequently the World Cup.
