Germany v Ukraine betting tips: world champions could be held in Lille
Germany don’t look like bankers against a stubborn Ukraine side looking to make a big impression at Euro 2016
June 10th, 2016
Time to see if the world champions can repeat their Brazil heroics and they do have many of the same players that helped Germany lift the World Cup.
However, there are question marks regarding the absence of a top-class centre forward and defensive concerns in the full-back department which could mean this side ends up being mere mortals.
Ukraine represent tough opening opponents, with Mykhaylo Fomenko setting up his team relatively defensively although Andriy Yarmolenko and Yevhen Konoplyanka are capable of wreaking havoc from wide positions.
Indeed, with neither side likely to be too despondent with a draw, that could be where the game is headed. It provides cover for the possibility of a goalless draw along with a higher-scoring match where goals could be scored by both teams.
Thomas Muller is the usual danger man for the Germans and will be afforded special attention by a Ukraine defence who spring mainly from Shakhtar Donetsk.
