Garry Monk reported to be on the brink of Swansea sack
Swansea City set to part company with Monk after poor run of results
November 10th, 2015
There is no smoke without fire and the fact that Garry Monk is the 1/3 favourite in the Premier League Sack Race market suggests that the Swansea manager is on borrowed time at the Liberty Stadium.
Monk has received plenty of praise for his role as Swans manager since replacing Michael Laudrup on a permanent basis, although this season has seen the Welsh side struggle and Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Norwich has pushed him close to the brink.
It appears that Monk and Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins have fallen out over the possibility of a director of football being installed, with the former not prepared to sanction this happening despite a poor run of results which has seen Swansea win just one game in eight.
Jose Mourinho has been odds-on favourite in this market although it seems as though the Portuguese will remain at Chelsea after the international break, with the Blues going along well in their Champions League group despite rotten form in the Premier League.
Monk will take charge of Swansea for their match against Bournemouth a week on Saturday, although a failure to land victory will see the young manager walk the plank and look for pastures new.
