It has been a largely miserable season for Liverpool FC, despite having no distraction of European football although they do have a chance to win a second piece of silverware on Saturday evening.

Kenny Dalglish will lead out the Reds in the 2012 FA Cup final, hoping that key players like captain Steven Gerrard can produce a top class performance to ensure the trophy cabinet is nice and full this season.

Gerrard’s season has typically been disrupted by injury, although the England midfielder is calling for a team effort from the troops to ensure they celebrate a domestic cup double.

“We beat Everton in a massive game at Wembley (the semi-final) not so long ago and I didn’t get the goals,” he said.

“So we’ve certainly got players in and around the squad who can be match-winners. Not all the pressure’s on me. It’s up to everyone to deliver trophies for this club.

“Maybe the knockout nature of the cups has brought the best out of us this season.

“But what it also shows is that when we are down, under the cosh and under pressure, this team is never beaten.”
