Ramsey Injury Blow For Arsenal As Crisis Deepens
Ahead of their first Champions’ League group F game tomorrow, Arsenal fans have been dealt yet more bad news, with the revelation by manager Arsene Wenger that midfielder Aaron Ramsey has suffered an injury in training.

Though surely not as much of a disaster as the broken leg he sustained last winter – making Ryan Shawcross famous for all the wrong reasons – Ramsey will definitely be missed in a Gunners side that is already missing key personnel; with Jack Wilshere already sidelined due to an injury supposedly sustained on international duty, but aggravated further in a pre-season friendly. Added to the summer departures of Samir Nasri and golden boy Cesc Fabregas, it seems that the chips are finally down for Arsenal.
Their humiliating defeat against Manchester United only served to highlight key weaknesses; mainly the previous over-dependence on experience. The arrivals of Yossi Benayoun and Everton’s Mikael Arteta should get plans back on track, but it will take time for them to become fully integrated into the side; time that fans might not be willing to give, taking into account Arsenal’s trophy drought.
If you’re currently hunting high and low for that silver lining, take heart here: Tuesday’s opponents Borussia Dortmund lost at the weekend. While it’s nothing to get too excited about, contrast this with Arsenal’s first win of the season against Swansea; an average performance boosted by some exceedingly good luck – something they’ve been without as they continue to miss players both departed and injured. Hopefully tomorrow’s game will give them the chance to further establish their European credentials (after two wins out of two in the qualifiers) and finally shake off the shadow of Old Trafford; a result that would’ve fooled anyone out for a cheeky flutter.
