Joining the likes of Massimo Taibi, Fabien Barthez and Tim Flowers in the “fumbling a relatively easy pick-up” hall of shame is RSC Anderlecht keeper Silvio Proto – a Belgian international no less.

The gaffe came in Anderlecht’s clash with Zulte-Waregem on Monday night, allowing Teddy Chevalier to get his name on the scoresheet and put the underdogs 2-0 up against the Juplier League leaders.

Thankfully, Anderlecht still managed to salvage three points from the match, turning around their 2-0 deficit in the final six minutes, with a goal from Marcin Wasilewski on 84 and a brace from Tom De Sutter on 86 and 88 minutes saving Proto’s blushes.
