Mario Balotelli praised by Italy manager ahead of Euro 2012 final
It wasn’t clear whether Mario Balotelli would be selected for the Italy squad ahead of the European Championship, with the Manchester City forward having a difficult time of things in England which saw him play just a bit-part role in his team’s Premier League title success.

However, the 21-year-old has featured heavily for the Azzurri at Euro 2012 and his two goals helped sink Germany in the semi-final on Thursday, with Balotelli sure to start Sunday’s final against Spain.
Cesare Prandelli has nothing but praise for a player that has started all but one of his team’s matches at Euro 2012, having come off the bench to score against Republic of Ireland.
“We have always felt he had great ability,” said Prandelli.
“He has found a set-up where he can talk to great champions, who have won a lot of trophies and achieved a lot.
“There comes a time when you have to be brave enough to accept other people’s advice because the result becomes paramount.
“We have asked him to do certain things, and at this moment in time, he is doing them.”
Balotelli’s second goal against Germany was particularly stunning and the forward will hope to sign off as tournament top goalscorer, with just one goal required to achieve that feat.
