It is a decent Three Lions squad that will travel to Poland and then Ukraine for the European Championship, with the midfield department looking especially strong thanks to the inclusion of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Scott Parker and Ashley Young.

There was an element of doubt over whether Danny Welbeck or Glen Johnson might be fit to take their place in the squad, although both are expected to have recovered from minor injuries to be available for that opening match against France.

Andy Carroll has been handed the number nine shirt for the tournament, while it appears that Chelsea team-mates Gary Cahill and John Terry will line up next to each other considering they have been handed the number five and six shirts.

Squad list and numbers: 1 Hart, 2 Johnson, 3 Cole, 4 Gerrard, 5 Cahill, 6 Terry, 7 Walcott, 8 Lampard, 9 Carroll, 10 Rooney, 11 Young, 12 Baines, 13 Green, 14 Jones, 15 Lescott, 16 Milner, 17 Parker, 18 Jagielka, 19 Downing, 20 Oxlade-Chamberlain, 21 Defoe, 22 Welbeck, 23 Butland.
