England players dropping like flies ahead of Germany and Brazil games
Sterling, Henderson and Delph the latest players to withdraw from the England squad for prestigious friendlies

England face Germany on Friday night although Gareth Southgate will be without several players following their withdrawal from the squad.
Tottenham trio Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Harry Winks have all stepped down due to apparent injuries, while they have been followed by Jordan Henderson, Fabian Delph and Raheem Sterling.
It’s clear why Premier League clubs don’t want to risk their players for international friendly matches considering there is a hectic fixture schedule on the horizon, with no winter break in England.
Jack Cork was the latest player to be called up and he joins Michael Keane and Jake Livermore who were also surprise call-ups for the squad, with Southgate likely to be frustrated by effectively having a B team out against two of the best football nations in the world.
Jurgen Klopp has claimed that England’s media needs to dampen expectations due to matches against these countries.
“If you want to play a friendly you should choose another team than Germany. And Brazil is the second one, that’s really funny,” said the Liverpool manager. “All the journalists need to cool down and don’t expect too much. It’s not that they [England] cannot win, of course, but you make it too big if they win, too big if they lose.
“When qualification was over, people said now the problems start because the tournament is coming up. So England has a bunch of fantastic young players, that’s how it is. I’m not sure how Germany will line up but it’s a very good game for sure but I would not say it should be a sign for the future.”
